Remote Work: Developing Empathy and Tools Around Diversity & Inclusion

Join us for this interactive session starting with a presentation followed by dedicated time for sharing and connecting with our speakers and fellow attendees in moderated break-out groups.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, engineering teams needed to adapt quickly to fully distributed remote work. Each team member had their own challenges - some were forced into isolation, some were thrown into managing their childrens’ education, some found themselves caring for their parents or other family members. By sharing our stories and challenges, we developed empathy for each other. Has working from home given us a better appreciation of the “other’ and a greater appreciation of diversity and inclusion (I&D)? In this talk, Wade will share some scenarios and tools that viewers can use to build appreciation of the “other” and I&D. Following the talk, we will break out into small groups to explore this topic and others with fellow technologists.
