Helm: Past, Present, Future

Building towards Helm 4, we had to continually ask ourselves what exactly we were trying to build. In the aftermath of Helm 3, we have reached new levels of clarity about where we want to go, and how we want to build a tool that continues to serve the needs of the Kubernetes community.

Bridget Kromhout

Principal Program Manager @Microsoft

Bridget Kromhout is a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft, focusing on the open-source Kubernetes ecosystem. Her CS degree emphasis was in theory, but she now deals with the concrete (if “cloud” can be considered tangible). After 15 years as an operations engineer, she traded being on call for being on a plane. A frequent speaker and program committee member for tech conferences, she leads the devopsdays organization globally and the devops community at home in Minneapolis. She podcasts with Arrested DevOps, blogs at https://bridgetkromhout.com, and is active in a Twitterverse near you.

Matt Butcher

Principal Software Developer @Microsoft

Matt Butcher is a Principal Software Developer at Microsoft, where he leads the team of open source developers that manage Helm, CNAB, Brigade, Porter, and several other projects. Matt has a Ph.D. in philosophy, and is the author of eight technical books. He’s also the co-author, with Karen Chu, of The Illustrated Children’s Guide to Kubernetes book series. When not coding, Matt enjoys hiking in Colorado and drinking awesome coffee.

Matt Farina

Software Architect @Rancher_Labs

Matt works as a Software Architect at Rancher Labs where he focuses on cloud native technologies. He is an author, speaker, and regular contributor to open source. Matt has a particular interest in developer tooling and experience, CI/CD, dependency management, and, of course, cloud native technologies. He is a Helm maintainer and Kubernetes SIG chair.
